Default I've got an issue with private industry that's using government to rape my country

Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) looked uncomfortable when MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan introduced him Tuesday afternoon to talk about unemployment benefits and Wall Street greed. Brady's discomfort proved well-founded.

Ratigan tore into the Texas Republican, who voted against the extension of unemployment benefits but for the Wall Street bailout known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Brady repeatedly attempted to deflect Ratigan's harsh line of questioning on the nature of Wall Street by arguing that potential -- not actual -- tax increases are stifling capital investment and thus job creation, but the MSNBC host didn't let up.

If Brady voted in favor of TARP, he needs to go, too.

Sorry, you are just not getting it. Wall Street got its bail-outs from politicians who gave them your and my money. They didn't hold a gun to anyone's head; politicians could have said "no" and in my mind, should have said "no."

I can't control what Wall Street does, but I can sure campaign against politicians who think that giving fat cats taxpayer money with essentially no strings attached is acceptable.

Sorry; Google is having problems with their YouTube servers.

Say what you will, I campaigned against Bob Bennett, in large part because of his stand on TARP. The thing you don't accept is that the democrats are as much or more in bed with the big banks and wall street as are the republicans. Goldman Sachs gave more money to Obama than to McCain. Lots of other banks and brokerage houses did too. Here's the other thing that you don't accept either; more democrats voted for TARP than did republicans. TARP is the product of the democrat party.

So saying that you aren't buying it is simply shutting your eyes, holding your hands over your ears, stamping your feet and saying you don't believe it.

Sorry.

Sorry but during the coups de tete' that was the financial "meltdown" there was a gun held to the heads of our politicians. The gun was "if you don't do this our economy will crash to the point where there won't be basic neccessities available to the public (food, shelter, clean water etc)".
The fact that it was an unloaded gun is beside the point.....it appeared to be a loaded gun and the bluff (if it was one) worked.

Again we seem to get off track by saying that this one is more in bed with whatever the evil doer of the day is than that one.
As long as we continue to bicker about things like "My dad can beat up your dad" we loose and the frickin THEIVES win.

People who believe in the free market actually believe in the free market even when times get tough. They never "leave free market principles to save the free market." Although the figurative gun was held to the heads of politicians, the facts are that there were a number of days available for contemplation and consideration, as opposed to "you've got 5 minutes to act."

Obviously the stories that were told to them about no basic necessities, chaos in the streets, etc., were stories that were told by the central planners, the very people who would benefit from congress' giving them a really big bag of money, and we have seen that the money wasn't used for the purposes that it was intended. As soon as congress saw that TARP wasn't being used for its stated purposes, they should have snatched back that bag. Instead, TARP is being used as a slush fund, and congress is even more impotent than it was before.
